England's Tourist Chiefs Implement 10-Year Strategy To Grow Business Tourism
England’s tourism chiefs recently teamed up to form a dedicated action group focused exclusively on growing business-related tourism. This new marketing strategy is supported by MeetEngland - the official body responsible for promoting England as the destination of choice for meetings and events. The creation of the Business Visits and Events Action Group, which includes representatives from across England’s business tourism sector - aims to create a ten year vision as well as a short term sales and marketing plan over the next three years.
The core of the strategy focuses on growing business visits including exhibitions, tradeshows, corporate & association events, as well as identifying opportunities for winning and supporting large sporting and cultural events. An intensive process of consultancy will be taking place throughout the year culminating in the launch of the strategy at International CONFEX and Discovery in London in early 2011.
“We are in the process of creating a robust strategy which will support this important sector and provide focus for the future,” said Bob Cotton, Chair of the Business Visits and Events Action Group. “Phase one of the strategy will focus on research and market intelligence and we will create a competitor analysis and identify our key objectives and goals that will form a comprehensive sales and marketing plan.”
The group's overall mission is to provide a user-friendly tool that assists event organizers by providing inspirational ideas along with practical help and advice as well as a free venue- searching facility.
