Snow, Ice and Polar Bears -- Baobab Expeditions Goes North by Northwest in Canada For an Incredible Journey

Anyone looking for a great adventure in the Far North should consider booking space on an upcoming expedition organized by Baobab Expeditions that provides access to  the world’s greatest concentration of polar bears that roam the frozen north region of Hudson Bay near the outpost town of Churchill, Manitoba, in Northern Canada.

You can get "up-close and personal" with the polar bears on a two day excursion in the comfort of a Tundra Buggy. In addtion you will also visit historic Cape Merry, once a fur-trading post for the Hudson Bay Company;  tour the historic port of Churchill; experience the Manitoba Conservation’s Polar Bear Holding Facility and stop off at the Eskimo Museum with its collection of Inuit carvings, ancient kayaks and artifacts from historic tribes.

The Tundra Buggies are built to glide smoothly across the tundra landscape.  Complete with dual pane, frost-free windows and propane heating, the warm buggies offer terrific views of the bears as they prowl Hudson Bay for seals and cavort on the tundra. You are accompanied by a knowledgeable guide who explains the bears’ behavior and how they thrive in a harsh environment.  A picnic-style lunch and snacks are served on-board each day as you observe and photograph colorful arctic plants and encounter hundreds of Beluga whales.

There is always the possibility that you will view the Northern Lights as they flicker and dance across the northern sky--as darkness descends the light show begins as a white glow before changing to shimmering curtains of color. On your last day, you will go dog sledding with expert mushers who will share with you their dog sledding adventures.  Later you depart for Winnipeg, Manitoba, and your journey home.

Rates include return flights from Winnipeg to Churchill, Manitoba; accommodations; all meals in Churchill; professional guide services; entrance fees and activities; a one year membership to Polar Bear International and all taxes and services.
