Travel Designer Specializes In Luxury Travel to Asia

Remote Lands’ Chairman and CEO is Catherine Heald, who has founded and run four companies in Hong Kong, New York, San Francisco and Los Angeles in her 22-year career.  Heald lived in Hong Kong for seven years and has visited over 100 countries.   Jay Tindall, the company’s Chief Operating Officer, has been living, working and traveling internationally for the past 20 years, conducting business in over 50 countries. 

Remote Lands offers travel exclusively to Asia specializing in Bangladesh, Bhutan, Cambodia, China, India, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Maldives, Mongolia, Myanmar (Burma), Philippines, Sri Lanka, Thailand and Vietnam.

They create bespokejourneys tailor-made to discriminating tastes by private jet charter or commercial aircraft.  They also organize scheduled private jet journeys with celebrity speakers on specified dates, for the ultimate indulgence in international air travel.

Current private jet journeys offered are :

  • Cuisine & CultureWell-known personalities lead journeys through Asia enabling guests to learn about Asian culture through its food.  The first private jet journey, entitled “Passionate Epicures & Insatiable Travelers,” features best-selling author Simon Winchester and celebrated food critic Gael Greene, whisks guests through five Asian countries in 14 days.  Highlights of this trip include dining with members of the Thai royal family, a visit to the Yekshenba Bazaar, the largest open air market in the world, located in Kashgar; dinner with the Maharaja at his palace in Udaipur; a wedding ceremony in a charming Bhutan village; and a private young monk ordination and ritual head-shaving in Burma.  This journey is scheduled for Oct. 13-26, 2007.  Space is limited to just 15-20 guests and reservations should be made by April 1, 2007.   
  • Golf:  The Golf journeys take enthusiasts of the sport to some of Asia’s best and most interesting golf courses including the world’s highest golf course in Bhutan high up in the Himalayas and a golf course inside an extinct volcano in Bali.  Famous golf personalities lead the trip, offering a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to travel and play golf with the superstars of the sport.  The first Golf journey takes place in early 2008. 
  • Art & ArchitectureHighly-knowledgeable art connoisseurs take travelers on a journey visiting a wide range of fascinating places from Burma to Indonesia to India where they can learn about Asian art and architecture from ancient to modern.  The first Art & Architecture journey is slated for early 2008.
