St. Maarten’s Legendary Dawn Beach Gets A Winning Westin

In an island known for its pristine beaches, Dawn Beach on St. Maarten is considered one of the best.

Visitors from around the world and local lovers were accustomed to going there for the colorful sunrises.

Local residents were concerned when the new Westin Hotel was being built on this most beautiful beach.

Happily, the new facility matches the quality of the beach, offering one of the most spectacular beachfront accommodations in the Caribbean.

From the welcome desk immediately inside the front door to the lobby bar through to the casino and out into the pool area, the hotel is first class.

Designed for both families and conventioneers, the hotel is a wonderful combination of casual and elegant that bespeaks a careful attention to detail.

Rooms are on the generous side with flat panel television, satellite reception and a mini-bar. Their plush bathrobes are warm and comfy.

The real secret of this Westin is the staff.  They are bright, smiling, eager-to-help and warm. Open just a few months, the sprawling facility has a number of pools, walk-up bars and restaurant facilities and spectacular ocean frontage.

Its two main restaurants serve diners both inside and on a veranda looking out to sea.

The spa facilities offer a variety of treatments for individuals and couples.

Another word about the casino is in order.  It is probably one of the most intimate and best designed in the Caribbean.  Remarkably noise free and similar to the smaller European casinos of a pre-World-War One time with the added fill-up of the latest slot machine offerings.

The nightclub features wall-to-wall sound and vibrates to music almost every night.

For children, there are a host of activities, including overnight camps for four or more participants that will really let parents “get-away-from-it-all.”

Also building on the property is a series of townhouses, some right on the beach, that promise to be family “home-away-from-home” for many years.  These offerings can be put into the hotel’s rental program as well as kept always available.

For meetings and conventions, the facilities are first rate.  For weddings, the location and amenities couldn’t be better.  The facility even has its own director of romance, Kircy Richardson.

Richardson being a common name on the island, Kircy offers a unique approach to planning and holding a wedding in what is one of the premiere locations in the Caribbean.

All-in-all, Westin has added a remarkable new gem to its tiara of resort communities.
