Go to The Brando
 Attention all Brando fans! Marlon Brando's private island - the Polynesin atoll of Tetiaroa - will become a new luxury resort upon completion in late 2011. Currently under construction, The Brando will consist of 47 deluxe bungalow villas (each with private plunge pools), a spa/fitness center and a community pool. Among the activities available will be scuba diving and archaeological tours of royal Tahitian sites.
The resort is a product of Brando's vision to create a project that will foster opportunities for guests to get to know both the place and the people of French Polynesia. It will be the only hotel on Tetiaroa, the former playground of Tahitian Kings that was purchased by Brando in 1965. Tetiaroa is encircled by a coral reef. The atoll is 35 miles from Tahiti.
Brando had many ideas for how to create an eco-friendly resort that are being implemented by the builders. The hotel will operate with a "sea water air conditioning" system (SWAC) featuring completely renewable clean energy with zero impact on the environment. A deep-sea pipe will pump cold water from the ocean to chill the air in the hotel.
